Red Ribbon Week

It's Red Ribbon Week in the girl's school this week. Monday they wear all red, Tuesday is jeans, Wednesday is team day, Thursday is hat day and Friday is sweats day. This week is designed to help the kids learn of the dangers of drugs. Great concept. But both kids came home without any spelling words for the week. When asked why, I was told by both of them, we have a busy week with the Red Ribbon stuff. What????? So teach them about drugs but don't keep learning the important things, like reading and writing? Doesn't that seem bass ackwards to you? I love our school district, really I do, but sometimes public schools make little sense to me. Like they waste a lot of time on things that are just not important at all. But anyway.

I attend a public high scool, but I remember having busy weeks with just one theme where a lot of stuff was pushed back. Quite frankly, I loved it. Kids need a chance to focus on really important things that might save their life someday. Don't you think that's worth just a week with no spelling words? And I'm pretty dang sure that they will be read to as well as some readings and activities. Trust me, they are still learning.

What a Pretty in Pink design. It is so nice to have the internet as our medium to share our thoughts. Would like to share the genuine pills I found online. Really worth sharing.

Public schools= waste of time, I got your back on that one. Why don't they just teach the important stuff like say the facts.

blog really interesting, but I do not agree on these drugs. I'm not from America or England, only to be learning english in school so I cold not understand everything what you writen. I think that kids should from the earliest learning what is wrong and what is good, I will try it and they just try to lead to serious addictions. you just have a different opinion on this, please do not misunderstand me. :)
