Today we went to Sesame Place. Variety Club had their Halloween Spooktacular. We all had a lot of fun. Jewel especially, which is the way it should be. Days like today when Jewel is around her peers who also have some sort of developmental disabilities are so important for her. It makes her see that she is not the only one who is different. That kids are not all the same, that kids come in all shapes, sizes, that some walk different, some talk different, some hear different, etc. She had a really fun day. All three kids actually got along really well all day long which is a huge shocker, even for the car ride, both ways. Jewel got her face painted, Carlos and Amber climbed up the cargo nets, the kids all did the trick or treat scavenger hunt. The weather was perfect, the kids were perfect, just a perfect day, I could not have asked for anything better.

That's awesome. I know when they had special needs day at the water park this summer, it was great, it was so relaxing to let Isaiah just be Isaiah w/out trying to keep him in line and worry about melt downs and stimming etc...no one staired no one made comments, no one was mean to him...it was just a wonderful peaceful day!
Hey, we were there yesterday too. We did not have such a wonderful time though! Joey was awful. He was the one kicking and fussing and pouting and being generally miserable in the Elmo theater at the 11 show if you happened to have had the (dis)pleasure to be there at that time! LOL We were gone by 1:00. Every one of the trick or treat stations we went to had some sort of peanutty snack that he could not have and that made Mama and Joey mad and over all it was just a really bad day. LMAO Glad you had a good time though. This is Carol from the CD boards btw :-)
oh yes, as soccermom said, at least nobody stared or anything or gave dirty looks, and when he smacked the boy in front of him in the head and made him cry, the dad was so nice and said he completely understood, so I was thankful for that.
